I wanted to drop a notice about an extended Southwest trip that I am co-leading this October 12-22, 2026, with my good friend, fellow river guide and renowned Geologist, Christa Sadler. She and I have worked together guiding on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, and she has taught me much about rocks, rapids and rowing big water. Although this is not a river trip (entirely), Christa and I are very much looking forward to working together again, and bringing our experiences and stories along for the ride! I know it’s short notice, but I also just agreed to do the whole trip!
This adventure is organized through the non-profit, Boundary End Archaeology Research Center, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Beginning and ending in Flagstaff, Arizona, we will spend 10 days traveling by motorcoach across the southwest visiting both historical and ancestral landmarks in Arizona and Utah. This is mostly a light hiking trip, with the most “strenuous” day being our 1-day float down a flat section of the San Juan River. This trip offers a great overview of the southwest, with a combination of science, regional histories, and Indigenous perspectives, all set amongst iconic and legendary landscapes!
There are still spots available, and you can view the schedule and learn more here –> Boundary End Southwest 2026
